Calypso's Custom Profiles and Imaging forms
Calypso is dedicated to providing clients with a calibrated workflow
solution. Scanners, monitors, and printers are independent of each
other and need their own specific "mixture" to produce the
same visual color. They don't "speak" the same language...
so they need a way of translating the same visual color into different
numeric mixtures specific for each device. Colorsync profiles are
essentially
"translator reference files" that describe the unique color
of a device into a common means of interpretation. Color accuracy
and consistency is obtained when there is a colorsync workflow between
the scan, monitor, and the print. Here are Calypso's custom made colorsync
printer/imager profiles...
The "Std" profile was made with ColorSavvy software and
default parameters, as were the previous Calypso profiles. This is
still the best overall tradeoff of gamut mapping and body and should
be used by most customers.
The "Gray" profile is also made with the ColorSavvy software,
but employing the option to force neutrals to R=G=B. This may help in
some special situations, but it can also make pastel colors drop out
to gray so it should not be the default profile.
The "PM5" profiles were built with ProfileMaker 5 software
with paper grays and the colorful setting. The PM5 gamut mapping is
not as good as that in the ColorSavvy profiles, but these profiles may
help with blue-purple shift problems. These profiles also make the prints
come out a bit lighter overall due to an error in the PM5 software.
