Working with Panoramic Cameras

This one and a half day course is intended to introduce beginners and more seasoned photographers into the world of panoramic photography.

This course will start off in the field discussing some of the available medium format panoramic cameras and the unique characteristics of each, so you know what to expect. Topics such as camera basics, metering, composition, filter use and exposure settings will be discussed. The course will have the emphasis on results rather than the ritual. The intent is to create photographs and assist participants on a one-to-one basis.

We will meet in the field in the San Francisco area (approximately around 3:00pm) for a late afternoon / early evening photo shoot and then again the next morning for a sunrise / early morning photo shoot (cameras can be rented – see the rental information section at the end of this document). We will then reconvene at Calypso Imaging at noon on day two to get our film processed and have lunch (provided) before we sit down to continue our lecture and discuss our results as a group. During this time, we will also observe some images taken with the Linhoff 6x17 panoramic camera.

Next course: Sept. 20 -21, 2003

Course times: Day one: 4:00pm until sunset. Day two: One hour before sunrise until 5:00pm. Lunch provided approximately at noon on day two.
