About Calypso's Workshops...

Mission Statement:

To bring together students and master instructors for the purpose of learning and practicing the art of image making.

Facility:
Workshops are held at Calypso Imaging, Inc. in our photo/digital production facility in Santa Cruz, California. The class area is outfitted with new Macintosh networked computers, flat screen monitors, comfortable task chairs and digital projector. A 50" LightJet digital photographic printer and Epson 9600 giclee 44" printer are at the disposal of specific classes. In addition our Refrema dip and dunk E-6 processors provide fast turn around of film processing for field classes. This is a first class learning environment situated in a facility that specializes in providing imaging services for Wildlife, Fine Art, Landscape and Travel photographers from around the country. Some of the photographers whose images regularly pass through the lab are: Bill Atkinson, Charles Cramer, Frans Lanting, Galen Rowell’s Mountain Light, Vern Clevenger, and Jim Guthrie. The facility is open for educational instruction seven days a week through out the year.

Goals:
Our goal is for you to take away with you a practical set of skills with which to practice your craft. Every day is jam packed with information and hands on experience provided by some of the best image makers and technical experts in the field.

Classroom design:
The digital lab is set up to facilitate a seminar like environment. Classes & workshops are designed to bring the student in contact with the instructor as much as possible. The design of the lab allows the instructor to see all monitor screens and so be able to provide individual instruction and interaction. Within the classroom is a gallery print viewing area for display and critiquing.
