After toiling in the darkroom for 15 years doing my own dye transfer prints, I was very reluctant to give up the precise control over my finished color prints. For digital imaging to work for me, I knew that the printing process had to be extraordinarily consistent from print to print. This involves tight control of both the LightJet and the RA-4 process line. When I make a subtle change in a digital file, I want to be able to see that change in my next print.

Calypso Imaging has filled these requirements better than any other lab I have used. I have been using Calypso since the late 80's to make oversize prints of my images, and was pleased with their dedication to excellence. Now that Calypso makes LightJet prints from my digital files, they have continued their high level of service. They have also asked questions like, "what can we do better?" One example of solving a vexing problem is their creation of special print sizes. Previously, for me to get a fullsized 20x24 with a white border on all sides (my most popular size), I had to pay for a 24x36 print... not very efficient. Calypso created special sizes (like 22x26) to meet my needs.


I have in the past, and continue to heartily recommend Calypso to all interested.
