While working as a photojournalist for national and international magazines, Barbara lived for extended periods with Baffin Island Eskimos and Navajo Indians. Barbara has led tours to Europe, Indonesia, Hawaii, Alaska and many national parks throughout the United States. She now leads up to three photographic tours per year for Summit Photographic Workshops.

Formerly an Assistant Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, Barbara has conducted over 300 photographic tours and workshops.
