Although Bill is now a world-class full time nature photographer, his name is also well known in the field of software design. Years ago, as a member of the original Macintosh team at Apple Computer, he designed much of the initial Macintosh user interface, and wrote the original QuickDraw, MacPaint and HyperCard software. One of the software architects for the Macintosh computer, Bill has pioneered techniques and workflow for digital printing, and is a master of color management After years of designing software tools to empower other creative people, Bill is now being empowered in his own art by the accuracy and fine control made possible with the digital printing process. Bill developed the ICC profiles for Calypso Imaging Inc., using an exhaustive testing process with a number of different profile-making programs. Bill's flawless, luminous nature photographs can be seen at the Silver Light Gallery in Carmel, at the Museum Works Gallery in Aspen, at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite, or on his website www.billatkinson.com.
