To be completely honest, few things in life give me as much solitary pleasure as the act of artistic creation and I have always felt a strong kinship with anyone who pursues such endeavors. Photography is a unique craft because of its intrinsic reliance on the outside world. It's possible to lock yourself away in a private studio and create wonderful photographs, but the vast majority of photography is inextricably tied to experience—standing in new, exciting places or finding new and exciting things about ordinary places—and that's what makes it so fundamentally remarkable.

His father taught high school art for several years. He eventually decided to give up teaching to start a custom framing business, which his mother helped to run for a few years until she began teaching art herself. Suffice it to say, his life has been surrounded by and filled with artistic influence. Some might suggest that it's a hard act to follow or that his interest in the arts was inevitable. He disagrees with the former, but agree entirely with the latter.
